Most excellent! I picked up Lizard and In the Wake of the Poseidon the other day, along with In the Court of the Crimson King (Domestic LP) and I thought that all were pretty good considering how old the masters must be. Robert Fripp was supposedly involved in approving the master dead wax so I guess that means something.

The records are very airy, but can get a tad screechy due to the techniques and instruments used by this very unusual band. Also, they are very clean and quiet.

I give them 2 thumbs up at any rate....

I've only heard In the Court so far, but it's the best I recall hearing of this title in a very long time...lots of low-level detail and not as abrasive, for this recording. I had an opportunity to hear an original Pink Island pressing, but it was so beat to hell that I had a hard time appreciating it. I own a 1971 Pink Rim pressing that's pretty close to NM, but it sounds very compressed to me...this is a tough record to get right.

Hope I get a chance to hear the rest of the DGM reissues.

Yeah, I hear ya. I might get the other 3 (Larks' Tongue in Aspic, Red and Island). I guess I kind of like weird bands, and this one is one of them......

Wayner,
Are these Steve Wilson remasters?
Cheers,
KP

I do not know that. There isn't any info about that on the LP, nor at Music Direct website. All I'm told is that Fripp gave the thumbs up on these remasters.

Any info would be appreciated....

The masters for Islands were lost decades ago.

Who knows what the source for this reissue is?

Too bad, really. The title track is one of the best imaging rock recordings I've ever heard.

There is a reason why original English pressings of this are so expensive. It is still the best version.

Hi Wayner,

You might want to look for a copy of McDonald and Giles LP

Thanks for the link, Mr. pumpkinman!

I need to make a correction here. All of the LPs are made by UMG, including In the Court. This statement (in error) was due to me believing the MD website and not looking with my own eyes.

UMG must know what they are doing as the all recordings are very nice as is the artwork and sleeves.
