c-series dress panel for 10bsub after all?
« on: 22 Mar 2015, 02:54 pm »
HI James,

When i bought the 10bsub, Mafico and my dealer told me it wasn't available in a matching c-series dress-panel. I've pushed and asked them to really verify, but the answer was a big no.

Looking into the manual just now, to find some specific settings i had forgotten about, my eyes just spotted this in the manual....

Please tell me this is still available and, even better, retrofittable.  I've always missed it, being the one Bryston machine out of style, and maybe even worse, making it unstackable.

Since im designing for a custom made cabinet, I am in the process of reordering the amps ea. I would love the c-dresspanel to make the bryston rig fit and look even better than ever.

Thanks Marius

Hi Marius,

We never developed a C Series dress panel for the 10B. The only thing that changed was a 19 inch and 17 inch single dress panel rather than 3 separate panels.

bummer, such a magnificent piece of technique in the wrong coat...
Your manual just got my hopes up.
Thanks for the quick response though, have the rest of the Sunday to adjust...

James,

Please let me get back on this.

The reason i asked before was not only for cosmetic reasons. The 10bsub has lower rubber feet and thus it is rather difficult to stack it properly in between the other Bryston machinery.
Could i replace the original feet with the ones you use on the newer C-series? And, if so, would you be willing to ship 4 rubber feet to the other side of the pond?

Thanks in advance, Marius

Does Mike read along, or do we have to nudge him? Thanks if you would.

Hi Marius;

Sorry, I don't spend much time in the forums (as you've probably figured out) and generally wait for James to nudge me...

The feet on the 10B fit into a blank hole using expanding pin, while the larger feet used on other products use a 10/32 machine bolt for attachment.  It is possible to thread the holes in the 10B chassis to 10/32 using a tap, but this does not leave more than 2 threads for the bolt to bite into, as the metalwork is only 0.063" thick.  As long as the bolts are not over-tightened it should be OK...

Thanks,

Mike

Hmm,
I don't know Mike, i don't really feel very comfortable tapping threads in a  sensitive bit of machinery the 10bsub is, especially if i have only 0.063" of comfort zone.... If one messes up there's no feet at all that fit  :?

Seems i finally have to accept its special build in the Bryston line-up..

Let me thank you for your creativity, really appreciated.

Cheers,
Marius
