NAD 7400 Just Retired Today for a MW KWA 150SE
« on: 17 Mar 2015, 11:21 pm »
The year was 1999 and it was raining so I was off work and strolling the pawnshops.  There it was a NAD 7400 Moniter Series receiver and all they wanted was $299.00   I just retired it today from the main system.  It was replaced with a Modwright KWA 150SE and a Gill Alana preamp.
Update:   And how could I forget The Daedalus Pans that have been on hand for over a year.
How could I forget :duh:

Outside of a little cleaning a time or two I have truly loved this old Amp.

Congrats on the purchase.  Many moons ago I had a NAD 2100 amp and a 1600 Tuner Preamp.  I sold the amp about 18 months back just before a relocation.  Had the amp for a very long time.

NAD's got quite a bit of respect for their amps back in the day.  Having one of their preamps led me to the dark side of audiophilia... years back when Gary Dodd put his new prototype for his battery pre in my system it was light years ahead of the NAD, so I had to have one... which later led to new speakers, then a better amp, then a better source.....

Are you going to use it in a secondary system?
I'm using an old NAD integrated to drive a set of even older Stax Sigma headphones with great results.

That old 7400 will never go away.  It can always be a backup and yes a second system if Lou will build a book shelf.  It will work well in the nursing home I bet.   There was one sold not to long ago for about $ 400 :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

And while it doesn't have the refinement I now enjoy it drove my speakers harder and louder then the 150 SE
