tube testing in Seattle?
« on: 24 Sep 2004, 06:04 pm »
hi folks,

I need some 5881 power tubes tested, along with some 12AX7 preamp tubes. The tubes are on an amp that I haven't run in a year or so and I want to make sure they're all in spec.

Anyone know of a place in the Seattle area that will test tubes? Or will I have to send them out?

any advice/info appreciated.

thanks!

Brandt

Contact Hawthorne Stereo on Roosevelt, 206-522-9609. They tested some tubes from a used amp I bought from them. I don't know if they did it themselves, or just know someone in the area that can do it.

If they cant help, try Experience Audio on Roosavelt Way, 206-729-7209. They deal with tubes and may have a source.

If you can't locate anyone in the area, I have the capability to test tubes ans would be happy to help.  I'm in Kirkland.

thanks for the advice.

I ended up calling Experience Audio, Hawthorne Stereo, Precision Audio Repair...none of them could test.

Ended up going to the Old Technology Shop at 77th & Aurora - the fellow there has a Hickox tester and seems to know how to use it. He charges $0.75 per tube for the testing.

Thanks again - wanted to let you know where I found someone!

best,

Brandt
