For sale is a pair of Thiel CS2 loudspeakers in teak finish.

I bought these speakers second hand in 1988 and have had them ever since. Both speakers are functionally perfect and sound wonderful. These speakers are very natural, coherent, and revealing of upstream equipment and quality of recordings. I at one time bought a pair of Infinity Kappa 8's to replace them with, but the Infinity speakers were sold because they were no where near as enjoyable to listen to. The speakers have only been driven by a Soundcraftsmen MA5002, a pair of Soundcraftsmen PCR800's, an Adcom GFA555, and a pair of Adcom GFA565's. The speakers have original boxes and brochure.

The speakers were both 9 out of ten condition until the last move when a bed frame smacked one of the speakers on the upper left and put a nice chip on the top edge about the size of a nickel, since then it has had a couple of minor scrapes on a back edge. I would rate that one now a six or six and a half out of ten, the other one 8.5 out of ten. If you are not looking for any damage it's not really noticeable. All speakers include grills that are in very good original shape. The center has no grill but looks nice without it.

I also have a pair of Thiel CS1.2's in teak finish that are functionally perfect, but have some scratches. I also have a black James Loudspeaker 8.2C center channel speaker that matches very well with them for center channel duty. Last I have a Phase Technology PC50 passive 10" dual voice coil subwoofer in oiled oak finish that I ran with a spare Soundcraftsmen PCR800 and an electronic crossover. This sub is sealed, plays very clean, very fast and mates well with the Thiel's. All speakers have surrounds that are in great shape.

I would like $450 for the CS2's (just under $2,000 new), $400 for the CS1.2's (about $1,500 new), $350 (it was around $1,600 new) for the center channel, and I want $200 for the subwoofer.

If you buy it all I will let it all go for $850

I owned CS2' back in the early 90's. They used expensive Dynaudio D28 tweeters back then. They are not really for the heavy metal crowd or insane playback levels, but for the average room and honest playback levels, they were magic in tonality, resolution and imaging. Someone wanting reference speakers for a sane price should grab these! :thumb:

Wow, I had that phasetech sub back in the 80's. Or should I say I had one.

It sounds real good with high current amplification and an electronic crossover.   :thumb:
