No longer for sale! Just took another good listen and decided not to sell.
Here is my trusty pair of Cary SLM-70 signature monoblock amplifiers, max'd out as follows:
1) The "signature" version comes with better transformers
2) Jensen oil-filled coupling caps installed
3) Variable feedback switch installed
4) Military spec switches installed to allow switching between EL34 and KT88/6550 tubes
5) Military spec switches installed to allow switching between Triode & Pentode (on the fly)
6) Cary custom oak bases
Updates 2 & 3 were performed by Cary, updates 4 and 5 were performed by a qualified tube technician and checked/confirmed by Cary. These amps have a sweet and liquid sound, with delicate detail, when used with EL34's and more punch when used with KT88/6550's. Dennis Had (of Cary) told me that this is one of his sweetest amps - especially with the variable feedback update.
Current tube compliment (per amp) includes: 4x JJ EL34-L, 2x JJ GZ-34-S, 1x Sylvania 6SL7, 1x National Electronics OD3/VR150 (voltage stabilizer). If interested, I have some KT88's I would be willing to sell.
I used these amps with my Quad 988's and was very happy with them. I'm not using them now, and am "clearing house", so they should go to someone who will appreciate them.
If shipped, I anticipate four boxes: one box per amp (new boxes provided by Cary when updated with variable feedback switches), one box for the oak bases, and one box for the tubes. The amps weigh 30 lbs each and the bases weigh 8 lbs each. Everything will be safely and securely packed. Buyer pays shipping and paypal fees.
