Hello, I am curious about VS speakers, I read alot of good things and some not so good things and would like to have a chance to hear them. I cannot afford the new models but wonder about the VR-4 and VR-3 earlier generations. Is there anyone close to the Central Kentucky area that actually owns a set?

That's the model that got me hooked. After hearing them at a friend's place I tried to order a pair. By that time the Gen III HSE was out so that is what I got. I became a dealer a month after. Talk about an addiction!

I own Multiple sets of Von Schweikert Speakers and I'm in Northern KY.  I actually have three systems running.  I use BAT and Parasound Halo JC1 & JC2.  Are you still considering speakers.  My VR44 Actives are breaking in very very well at this point.  I also have a Shockwave 15 next to them, that took a while to dial in correctly.

FWIW, I have a vintage-ish but very low-time pair of Vortex Screens (Von Schweikert circa 1991) that I'll be listing for sale as soon as I get a clue on their market value.  Either way, it's a step in the VS door at what I'm sure will be a small portion of newer systems.  If you make it to Northern KY to take Grant Rock up on his nice offer, you could hop over the river and pick up my Screens!
