Bryston Warranty
« on: 11 Feb 2015, 03:31 pm »
Dear Mr. Tanner

I'm a happy Bryston owner since 2006 when I bought a 4bsst and BP 26. Unfortunatelly the poweramp had some problems before cristmas snd I send it for repair to your distributor in Italy, Audioreference, where I bouhgt it. Themain  problem seems to be the softstart circuit, it is still in repair, they are waiting for parts from Canada. Hopefully I'll get it back soon.

My question is: What does the warranty cover? Should I pay anything?

Best regards,

Fabrizio Poli

Hi Fabrizio

The warranty is covered in the country the product was purchased in so as long as you purchased it in Italy all is fine.

That's interesting.  So if I, living in the US, buys a used Bryston amp from a Canadian, the 20 warranty in void?

Not void - just has to come back to Canada or the USA for warranty. North America is seen as one market for us.

If someone in China buys a product from a US or Canadian dealer then any service has to be done in the USA or Canada. It is not fair to have a distributor who did not sell the product be responseable for the service.

I didn't knew that.  It opens up the used market a bit...  But being from Canada, at present time, buying from the US with the current exchange rate is a deal breaker...

Will continue to hunt in Canada...

Received this answer from someone who is selling a Bryston pre-amp: for warranty issues invoice only needed for model numbers 608 and up.
Is that true?

Hi Mr. Tanner,
From a Private ebay seller that doesn't have an invoice.

Hi

There has never been a specific serial number for warranty issues I am aware of so not sure where the seller got this info.

If you give me the serial number I can tell you the history and if there are any issues.

Everything looks fine - it was sold to our distributor in the UK in April 2010.

They may be confusing the serial # with the date code for items needing a receipt for warranty.
