Hey, no need to get bent , it was just a joke, anyway compare z-mag/ freq on both coils , throw that into your calculations.. 
Done it many times. Measured and calculated.
Your original comment was regarding DCR not Z.
Anyways, all other things being equal (which they never are), obviously it's preferred to use an inductor with lower core loss issues and non-linearities. The steel-laminated versions address these issues but, obviously, air-cored inductors have an advantage in this aspect.
The reason Magnepan is using the steel-laminate inductors here is because they fit in the small spot allocated and allow to get rid of the bulky external box the previous models had.
That said (and if you've been following my posts for years you already know this) I think it doesn't matter what kind of inductors are used. They should ALL be removed completely.
