Hi;

I was just reading the most recent post Chris had made in the Tidal thread where he links to an offical Bryston forum. I didn't even know one existed and by the looks of things I'm not the only one as it's not used that much. I was browsing looking at the different threads and noticed in the Power Isolation section a thread called BIT AVR Series. It would seem that Bryston does build AVR's but I guess it's not a regular product since it's not on their website or ever mentioned in literature I've seen.

Is this something that will be introduced as a regular product at some point? A picture has not yet been posted so I assume another one hasn't been built since that thread was started.

Any info you could share James or Chirs?

Yes we recently  decided to offer the BIT 15 and 20 (120V) in an AVR version but they are not really required unless you have serious swings in your hydro power delivery.

So which Torus product range are these based on, the AVR or AVR2 series? These would certainly look sexy with the Bryston faceplates.

So are the AVR's literally the RM series (not IS models) with voltage regulation added?

James, what constitutes "serious swings"?

I've seen my voltage dip down as low as 111v. Usually it's 117v +/- 2. Never over 120v.

Hi Guys,

Based on the Torus AVR versions.

Our gear can easily handle from 85V to 135V without issues and the AVR will keep the voltage within 5 volts of 120.

Just a curiosity question. Why base the two Brystons on the original Torus AVR series and not the AVR2 series? I think it would be neat to have the additonal on-line features that the 2 series offers not that they contribute to quality in any way but just intersting to have.

Have you guys ever thought about doing a UPC based on the Torus transformers? With the BDP's having the option for internal drives and it would be cool to have a beefy Bryston UPC to ensure the drives keep spinning when the power goes out.

Can the Torus units be fitted with the Bryston faceplate?  I have had a Torus RM15 for some time and would like to have it match for an all "Bryston" system.  It looks to be the same 2U chassis of the BIT15 but I may be wrong.  It has the black/silver faceplate with the "bulged" center.

I believe it could be but we can not do it legally because it is a Torus product.

Just curious, why haven't the AVR's been added to the website? Since this is essentially a new product type customers looking for voltage regulation are heading elsewhere  Best let people know they exist.

I probably should but have not really promoted the Automatic Voltage Regulation aspect of the BIT as it really is not necessary unless you have sever issues with voltage fluctuations in your area.

I do not want customers purchasing gear they really do not need with products.
