SOLD: AKSA 100 Watt kitset

I can give you my perspective on integrating an AKSA into HT. Assuming you're just getting started, I'll assume you have a HT receiver - or soon will. This needs to have pre-outs - output from the internal preamp/processor which you'll use to feed your AKSA (front left and front right).

You may then notice that your center channel sounds a bit muddy - since it will not be amplified through an AKSA. You may find it sounds better using the "phantom" mode to direct the center to L+R. Eventually, you should get another AKSA amp . Perhaps Hugh would be able to sell you a single channel version, but it may not be necessary in the long run if you plan to use 6 channels for your HT.

My setup includes a Yamaha receiver feeding 3 channels of AKSA. Some day I'll add an additional AKSA for my rears (I just use 2 rears).

Fred, thanks. I do have an AV reciever it is a Marantz SR-19. I currently use the 2 of the pre-out's (L & R main) to divert the signal to my HSU-Research sub amp crosserover at 43hrtz, then it send the signal back to to the Marantz amp to the front mains. My amp also has a multi room connection which will divert the input source to an alternative amp. I may have to play with this set-up but I think I have something to work with here. I'm also think of selling my Marantz and purchasing an HT pre-amp like Parasound ) Geroge, I did not recieve the private email, I recently moved to another state, I will check and modify my profile, please resend tomorrow morning as I'm on-line at work (not allowed, little time). Thanks. A VMPS sub is on my list of things to buy, and it would be fun to build an amp like the ASKA. I could compare the ASKA with my Jeff Rowland (stereo duties), and I could also compare it to my Bryston 9B (surround duties). Then, the "loser" would get to run the VMPS sub (or maybe two subs).

George, As luck would have it my wife's washing machine died on Saturday (it was smoking), my reserve fun money went to the new machine which arrives on Monday. JJB - I forgot one other issue with integrating the AKSA into a HT setup: a power relay. I choose to power up my AKSA whenever I turn on my HT system - rather than leave it powered up at all times, as many do. If you make the same choice, then I recommend using a relay to perform the power switching. The coil connection (the switch) is plugged into a switched outlet on my receiver, so powering on the receiver also turns on the AKSA.

The relay I use is an OMRON G7L-2A-TUBJ-CB, that I bought from MOUSER for about $12. It is rated at 25 AMPS. It's very easy to use; I can give you more details if you decide to go this route.

I'm pleased you've been successful.

I had a look at the gallery photos, and I have to say that from what I can see it was extremely well made. The buyer should have no problems at all finishing it, most of the hard yards are done, and I'm confident he will be delighted with his new 100W AKSA.

Thank you for your explanation for the sale. You made it clear that you were happy with the AKSA, and I appreciated that. I hope things improve financially very soon......

I did a lot of reading up on the AKSA before I purchased, and have yet to hear of a negative review. It was a bummer to have to sell, especially without getting to hear it, but perhaps one day I will be able to try again. As an aside, I accepted a new job offer this morning so things are looking up. I didn't sign up, but I thought about it while I was building. To be honest, I'm not sure if I want to now, as I'm worried it will be too tortuous to hear what I cannot afford. I'll also feel kind of guilty having the amp and making potential buyers wait for their audition. I have no doubt it sounds great, and I don't think I will hesitate purchasing again having not heard it, when the time comes.
