Enclosure plans for dual opposed GR SW-12B
« on: 18 Jan 2015, 08:56 pm »
Hi guys,
Have two SW-12B subs that I am planning to use in a dual opposed configuration. I am guessing that these drivers need approx 2.4 cuft in this configuration. Wondering if somebody has any suggestions for dimensions for the box. Planning to use perhaps two window braces in the middle & use polyfill between the braces. Planning to connect drivers in parallel to get 4 ohm impedence. Have Crown XLS1000 amp that at 1kHz puts out 350 watts stereo & 1100 watts bridged mono. Wondering if using only one channel in stereo is too little & if mono bridged is too much for these drivers. I already have a dual opposed sub therefore trying to build another one to match. I do recall that the cutout dimensions are 11" for inner baffle & 12.625" for outer baffle. Wondering what the depth of the driver is?
Thanks,
Vinod

That is about right on the air space. Build then solid though and brace each panel about every 3". That configuration puts a lot of pressure on the remaining four side panels.

I'd put no more than 400 watts of power on the pair. They won't need any more than that.

Outer edge and through hole measurements are correct. I want to say they had 5.5" to 6" of mounting depth.

Thanks Danny. Wondering if anybody has outside dimensions for the box to get 2.4 cuft of volume using 3/4" plywood with double baffle & perhaps 2-3 window braces.
