I am giving my daughter and son-in-law a stereo system as a wedding present (actually they were married over a year ago but wanted me to wait until they bought a house). I'm giving them some of my old equipment as a starting point, but need to buy them a pair of speakers. They have a modest sized living room and need a speaker with a relatively small footprint (and they prefer a wood veneer in a color like dark walnut, which rules out some potential choices). They listen to a mix of classical, pop and some lighter rock music. I have narrowed my choice down to the Monitor Audio Silver 6 or the Tannoy Revolution DC6T, and can get a good deal on them. Both have good reviews but I have heard neither speaker and probably will not be able to audition either model. If you've heard either of these speakers or, even better, if you've heard both, I'd appreciate any comments you may have about their sound. Thanks.
