I was speaking to BRMs issues.  Ground hum and 60hz hum are not the same.  Ground hum can be 50 or 60hz (country differences), but does not have to be.

On my system it sounds like a ground hum to me and all of my wiring is shielded. In fact all of my wiring is dual shielded so I don't know what it is. I can't hear it in the midrange or the woofers but it might not be loud enough for me to here as it is very faint?

I do have tubes involved, I have a Joule Electra MK11-SE pre amp. It is the same on both channels, I can switch amps and it is still audible, the pitch just changes a bit.

Are your shielded interconnects dual conductor with 2 shields or single with 2 shields? The latter usually doesn't act as a shielded cable.

You cant eliminate hum in a power conditioner...

Is the noise the sane level on both speakers? How many tubes are we dealing with in preamp/amp? Have you tried headphones?

I had one system with hum, and the only way to eliminate it was to turn my overhead light and fan off.

what this guys doesn't know is we can deal with hum (50hz/60hz) or rectified (100hz/120hz)
inside electronic equipment,that's what's currently being done in power supplies
there is also lot's of mains wiring in buildings that's unshielded and unpwr conditioned
so what's the fuss is about?,if we can eliminate the hum inside the pwr amp for example
problem solved!
pwr surges can cause problems but i have to say not once in my 48 years of life i have
come across to one,surge protectors are very common right now if one desires to have one
so are resetable circuit breakers
anyway if this guy can teach me a lesson,let's see his facts,he should have plenty of time
to do that i think...

Sorry for the delay in getting back, ended up being a crazy week and thank you for asking sfox. I use Mogami Neglex Quad Audio Cable for my interconnects, you can read up on it here http://www.markertek.com/product/msc1-5rr/mogami-neglex-quad-audio-cable-rca-male-to-male-1-5-foot-black. I'm not into spending a lot of money on cables as I personally have not been able to tell much if any of a difference. And since I'm up on a hill with a line of site view of 3 of our TV station towers I think shielding or other noise canceling of RFI and EMI is important. My power cables are simply duel shielded. RG6Q cable which is duel shielded works well as I have to use it to eliminate ghosting on my TV.

I also have a dedicated outlet with an isolated ground and run everything except my big amp thru a power conditioner.

These are all things I would try if I was the OP.

Any EMF / RF devices broadcasting nearby?  I had a similar cricket affecting one of my main speakers, and it turned out to be an Ethernet over power / Ethernet switch issue for connecting my media source devices.  Cable TV connections are common issues to hum as well.  I wish you the best in tracking it down.  Unwanted noises are maddening!

Your Exoticas each have plate servo sub amps (20-80Hz).

Don't own a sub amp.  Main amps are the culprits.
