As a new owner of a Oppo/ModwrightTruth player with stock tubes, I too would like to know the answer to this question.

I have a Modwright DM 36.5 and a PH 150 Phono stage ordered.

Does one even need to upgrade tubes on these?

thank you.

Elsewhere, I have read that other owners believe strongly that significant improvements can be made with well chosen substitutes for stock, at least with the Oppo/Truth mod.

Thanks for the link.

What about NOS?

Is NOS a worthy upgrade?

Do you mean NOS as opposed to new production?

The DM 36.5 uses 6h30s.  There are NOS options for those tubes which could be an upgrade but they are very expensive, about $500 a pair.  Those would be the 6H30DR.  Be careful buying these since there are a number of fakes out there.  The rectifier is a 5AR4 which can easily be upgraded with any Mullard GZ34.  Modwright recommends doing that.

I haven't read much about the PH150 but any component which uses 6922s can be tested with NOS versions, usually with positive results.

Are there any NOS of Mullard GZ34 out there, or any other NOS tubes i can use for Rectifier?

Is there any NOS to use for upgrade of Voltage Regulator Tubes in the DM 36.5 Power Supply?

I just opened up my Modwright LS 36.5 and pulled out this tube.

Can anyone tell me what tube this is?

Are these stock tubes or NOS?
