WOW1 - How to limit LF
« on: 3 Jan 2015, 06:51 pm »
Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a set of WOW1 to be used as bookshelf speakers.  I like them and feel that they have a lot of potential but I'm still in the process of setting up my new system.  I have a few questions:
1). What options do I have to limit LF being passed to the speakers?  Is it best to do it simply in the line level before amplification?  Modify the cross over of the speaker?

Here are some details of the setup that I'm putting together:
WOW1 Speakers
2x Pioneer sw-8mk2 subwoofers <- Not the forever solution but seems a better solution then trying to push the WOW1 in LF
I'm building a CAPs Server
I'm going to build a Soekris R2R DAC <- I might build two DACS to perform the HF - LF cutover
I'm going to build a First One Amp to drive the WOW1

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Robert

FMOD devices from Parts Express have been used with great effect.

The FMOD's look like a great option. Check out a MiniDSP for another.

I also have the WOW1's, even a 3rd one for my center channel, plus a Salk sub
