If I do pick up a copy today, it won't be for me (don't have the $ to spare right now). But I should be able to at least watch a bit of it if I do pick one up.

So I picked up a copy a couple of hours ago. Didn't have a chance to watch any of it though. :(

Ahh well, maybe later.

Enjoy your copy next week Rob! :rotflmao:

Will I get yelled at if I ask what the heck you guys are talking about?  Am I correct in assuming they are releasing Star Wars on DVD?  Am I also correct in assuming this will be the cocked-up version with the tacked-on digital dookie and not the proper version anyone over the age of 20 remembers?

(that GIF animation is hilarious.  Who makes these things?  It's amazing what you can do with so few pixels.)

Of course he messed with it again.  He couldnn't leave THX 1138 alone either.  However, this being said, I think that I will prefer these to the 97 editions anyway given early reviews.  Besides, he did do one thing right with these.  He sent them to Lowery to get the film cleaned up.  I've seen some before and after shots and they look great now.  So now you can at least see the stuff he didn't mess with much clearer now.

I figured my cute 'lil Luke & Darth smileys would give it away!  Yep, the "original" movies are hitting DVDs, with the 97' tomfoolery plus a bunch of further revisions.  Sure, I wish it was the "real" versions, but I'll take what I can get, especially since I don't have an LP player and I'm too broke to buy one.

So the only way to get the unfocked original version is on Laserdisc?  Those big 12" doodads, right?  Hmph.  I suppose you'd have to hunt down a used copy, right?

Boycott the DVD says I!  An "I disapprove of your antics, Mr. Lucas" $19.95 in his pocket is the same as a "Dude! Star Wars Roolz!" $19.95 in his pocket.

Hey maybe next time they can digitally "remaster" the audio too, so a Jawa saying "Oo Tei Dei!" will be equally as loud as the Death Star blowing up!  Great idea!
