I need a 12 foot VH Audio cable or similar quality cable built for power cable.  Any builders here?

A power cable is very straightforward.  The gotcha is that cables always cost more than you expect by the time you get the wire, the connectors, a covering of some kind, heat shrink tubing, etc.  If you want it shielded, then that adds another cost and complexity to the build.

This is the C&C circle, so just go buy from Home Depot.   :green:

Memory fails me  :duh: , but there was cheap/quality power cord that many loved that came out of an electrical supply warehouse.  I'd actually bought a pair for my mono-blocks but must have sold them.

It is pretty easy to build your own. I made one yesterday for a C&C E-bay find of an Eaton 8 outlet, switched, rack mount power distribution block. The power block required an IEC 320-C19 female plug which I got from Amazon. The cord, and male plug I got from Home Depot. I added Techflex, and heat shrink. I have about $23 in a 6' 12ga. power cord.

If you can turn a screwdriver, and strip wire, you can build your own.

This is the wire I used from the Depot:

You might be referring to the Volex cords of yore. They changed the material so they are not the same anymore according to those that have heard them. I have not.

Indeed. It reminds me of the Six Moons review of the "White Lightning Moonshine" cable, the only difference would be to put different 'ends' on the cable. Since we're in C&C, you could build a power cable for $20.

I ordered one from Monoprice.  Figured I try one but DIY is still probably higher quality--I am not good with tools, unfortuneately.

Check out Cullen cables.  They are reasonably priced and offer 3 levels-

I built an extension cord, mostly out of curiosity.  Braided four 14 AWG strands (10 AWG effective) each  for hot, neutral, ground of PTFE insulated single crystal copper plated with silver.  Terminated with a Furutech plug on one end and quad Hubbell hospital grade outlets on the other.  It cost me about $80.  No noticeable impact on sound, but it is kinda festive since the insulation is red, green, and black.

The hardest part of DIY is getting over the fear of learning what you don't know.
There is another world out there, you just have to be willing to be a part of it.
It truly is a happy place.

If you want higher quality cable and connectors (which I'm not saying will or won't give you better sound), and don't want to DIY you can get custom length cables from RAM Electronics using industry standard components.

Example: 14awg Shielded IEC cable, 12 foot ~ $80
  -  Belden 19364 14/3 SJT shielded cable
  -  Marinco 5266Bl 5-15 plug
  -  Shurter 4781.0100 C15 IEC

How much cheaper do you think it will be to make a VH audio cable vs. buying an assembled one?

It might be worth just getting it from the factory already assembled.

I have found that different power cords sound different.

The least expensive I could find were the Take Five Audio Cryo cables which start at $59.  I might order one of those, too

I buy cables here for most of my components, they are shielded, flexible, soft and easy to work with plus inexpensive. They have several standard lengths or you can have them custom made.

Or can buy the parts yourself and make them how you like.
