I will take the middle ground.

I found it amusing, and had some excellent action scenes.

Reminded me somehow of "The Man with the Iron Fists" which I liked better.

As far as action movies go.... If the acting wasn't "B", the story line didn't try to be something it couldn't be, and they blow up a bunch of stuff, the videography is good (by modern standards) then I'm all in.
Extra credit if the subwoofer got a workout.

"Expendables" type of movie. That's my reference point for brainless action movies.

You're smoking crack if you think it's comparable to The Expendables in any way.

The only reason it has its rating is because it supports people's idea of ideology of targeting the 1% vs everyone else. It shows clear misunderstandings on basically every level of it, too.

I was merely comparing the "brainless" content of the average "blow-em-up" movie, like The Expendibles. I haven't seen Snowpiercer, only based my comment on the words written in posts and made a generalized comparison.

I liked it a lot, don't be put off by negative opinions. The movie is inspired by the graphic novel Le Transperceneige (Snowpiercer).

OMG!

I would claw my eyes out if I had to watch that one again!

I stood up in front of my seat five minutes in with the intent to walk out but everything else had started already so there was nothing else to see. Then at fifteen minutes I stood up to go home and just decided to gut it out. Once I accepted the fact that it was gonna be gawd-awful I was able to enjoy brief little fleeting moments but I'd have to say on the balance it was one of the worst films of the last 10 years (that I have actually seen). But at least Jamie Chung and Lucy Lui were nice eye candy.

I want to catch Snowpiercer based on the reviews and the stellar cast. Eventually...

So sorry - no pics. (Must not have happened.)

I didn't even think of snapping pics. I know all of them. They're all married (and have children or even grandchildren!). The youngest party girl is approximately 28 and the oldest is pushing 70. [My wife is nearly 50 now, but looks considerably younger.

The brightest result of last night's party?....My wife finally understands that my system sounds really good. She got lots of compliments on sound quality. I gotta cash in on that with another subwoofer....Swarm, here I come!

The movie was great last night. I was disappointed with the final couple minutes [I had expected another end.], but I can live with the end.

Sounds like a good time was had by all, but great to hear the gals recognized good sound quality when they heard it.
Who knows....maybe their husbands will want you to help them build a system.

USA Today just listed it as one of the 10 best flics of 2014. I enjoyed most of it for the visuals, but the plot got tedious at times, As for being the masses against the 1%, what post apocalyptic film doesn't have that as it's plot? And was I the only one who thought the ending a bit ambiguous? I could see the scene changing drastically if it had gone on for another 5 minutes.

I thought this is one of the best movie of the year. My wife thought this was one of the best movie she has ever seen. I'm a fan of Bong Joon-ho. His other two movies 'The Host' and 'Memories of Murder' are some of finest Korean movie ever. The plot line may not have been great, but the direction was superb. It was a breathe of fresh air to see top notch sci-fi post apocalyptic movie outside of typical hollywood stereotype.

Having said that, you might as well hate this movie. My best friend and his entire family hated the movie. It only goes to show that good art polarizes opinion. This is certainly not a mainstream pop corn movie for sure.
