from gutter to speaker grill

Here is a cheap and good looking solution to making a speaker grill to protect from prying fingers.

I was putting in gutter cover since we are finally getting some rain in Calif.  Just cut the cover in pieces (comes in 20ft roll, $1.87 from Amazon!! ) and paint some screws and washers black and wala!!

Hey that's a clever idea.
About 7 years ago I told my daughter and her friends not to touch my loudspeakers.
What did they do when they had the first chance, Poked in the Kevlar center domes  :cuss:
I should have built grills for them  :(.  I've built a new system since then.

I would agree with it being a cheap solution and it certainly offers protection against inquisitive fingers, but you're joking about the good looking part, right?   ;)

I've found that simply covering the speakers with a pillow case, when not in use, is enough protection. If you hide those interesting looking drivers (from curious kids), there's no temptation to poke them. Out of sight. Out of mind. An added benefit is that they don't collect dust or finger prints either. Damn......I should market this.

I used the stuff inside a pillow as a polyfil in the speaker...

A little steampunk for me, but gets the job done.

Might be easier to make the kids mitts out of the stuff!

Glad it works for you.
