Hello Folks

I'd like to talk about HI-FI streaming and the assortment of equipment needed to make it worthwhile.  Tidal is one online service that I've read about, and it sounds interesting.  Their claim is lossless 1421 KBPS music.  I would have to guess that this makes a difference on any system; however the most benefit is surely gained on a high quality system.  This leads me to the reason for my inquiry.   I understand that in a stereo system at point A you need high quality drivers, cabinets, crossovers, terminals and wires.  On the other end, point B, you need high quality source material (Tidal).  In between point A and point B, there are so many options and such a range of quality and price that I'm not sure where to start.  Pre-amplifiers, power amplifiers, tube amplifiers, mono-block amplifiers, receivers, DAC, etc.  I know the choice sometimes depends on your listening preferences.  Where's a good place to start when considering a slightly high(er) end 2-channel system?  I have x-static speakers connected to an Onkyo receiver now.  It's great, but I know I'm missing out.  I envision some LGK Wedgies, servo subs, and high quality gear in the future.

Any comments or discussion would be welcome.  Thanks!

Your X-Statics are very capable speakers. If anything, I'd look into servo subs and replace your receiver with an amp and dac. You can find a lot of great gear that won't break the bank.

I tend to buy used. Places like Audiogon are great.
