Keep in mind that we all rip our cd collection (and DVD and SACD, if possible). This is considered legal (especially unprotected recordings like cds) if you are keeping them for archive/backup, and is usually easily categorized under most country's Fair Use rules. However, if you then sell your physical discs, you are required, by law, to remove the backups (rips). That is a technical nit, but illegal to sell or give away cds and keep the rips, nonetheless.
Wow. You have a lot of nerve posting that. Do as I say, not as I do?
Huh? Ripping one's own digital collection (or helping AC folks rip theirs) is one thing; posting publicly of having an intention to then sell the discs cuz one doesn't need them anymore...something entirely different. I thought it was worth a heads up. Clearly you didn't.
You seem to have a double standard in the ethics department. You aren't fooling anybody.
Good point Ted.One of my audio club buds has offered a couple of times to let me rip 6TB of music (versus my puny 0.2 TB collection). Of course I declined out of respect for the artists and being a law abiding citizen. For that reason, I'll always retain the original CD's. (I'm old, so may never go to higher formats, and have never bought music via electronic media.)
Syrah went off line immediately after posting and hasn't been back since, so we're talking to ourselves.
Seems your bud wanted help you, you even dont know the artists of these songs.I dont understand North Americans, they like to aid his Gov and the established system, but refuses to help indivifuals, mainly foreign people.
