Hi,

I just got an update for MPDroid 1.07 Final, however there's a pop-up announcement:

https://github.com/abarisain/dmix/issues/656

(no connection, just a satisfied user of MPDroid)

 :(

Cheers,

David

I saw that too! What a drag. I think it works beautifully and is my go-to choice for BDP control on android. I hope he can get it worked out

Unfortunately such issues are common for independent / open source developers. No warranty at all. MPAD / MPOD on IOS are near to death too - developer has disappeared and does not support them at all. I think that Bryston should not rely on third-party controllers and must develop native applications for IOS and Android. Or at least sponsor independent developers. Manic Moose is not a replacement for native mobile applications, because there is no way to make web interface such responsive as native applications. And lots of small glitches in MM and unusable album database makes all this situation worse. So please, Bryston, think about it. Such great product as BDP-2 should have much better software for controlling it.

Hi folks

Do you know if this affects Droid MPD HD which is what I use sometimes?

Also try MPD Control and PMix and bitMPC and Mupeace (which I like)

Hi James

Great to see such many MPD controllers on Android. But can you recommend any alternative for MPAD/MPOD on IOS? I found nothing.

Perhaps there is info here?  http://www.katoemba.net/makesnosenseatall/forums/forum/mpad-mpod/

I check MPAD/MPOD forum periodically. There is only one developer who created both applications  - Berrie Kremers, https://www.linkedin.com/pub/berrie-kremers/6/392/182. And he does not respond to questions and bug reports in forum for several months. MPAD is not updated since January. I'm afraid that it will be removed from App Store soon or simply stop working after some next IOS update.

Have you joined Linkedin and perhaps tried sending an email that way?  Sometimes people who are involved in the audio business have full time jobs (they are not as lucky as James :thumb:) and between Holidays and other things going on in their lives they may take a break here and there.  Perhaps an email with info about how many users there are and info about this site would prompt him to post under the Industry area?  I don't use MPAD (and probably have since it used just a couple of times) as I have a music server with JRiver as the interface (and love it).  If I did use it and it was something I had detailed knowledge of the product and was happy with, I would send him an email via the site.  Worst that can happen is that he does not answer and then all you are out is the 5 minutes it took to register.

I did a web search and it may not be current but it shows an email address of: berrie.kremers@xs4all.nl

Of course I will contact him in urgent case while I don't like idea to break someone privacy. But I posted my thoughts on all this situation because I feel that Bryston should have interest in maintaining robust IOS controller for BDP-2. It will be much better if someone from Bryston will contact him directly.

That's fine and it is good that James sent him an email.  Was just trying to help (and that's why I responded).  If someone is on Linkedin, which is a public site (and it has his picture - vs. my Linkedin profile as I did not want to ruin their site ), I don't think they would mind (and if the email I listed is his current email, it is all over the place from a web search).  I have a Linkedin Profile as well and since I recently retired for the second time it lists my occupation as "Occupation Deceased for the 2nd Time" so there is no mistake as to what I do :green:

And I agree 100% with your statement.  That's why my choice for a playback device is JRiver (I have Foobar as well on the music server but like the JRiver interface) and I posted on this thread  http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=111932.0  December 2, 2013 about such issues.  We all have our favorites and preferences and digital/software is generally subject to more changes than things like an amp or a preamp.

Hi Folks,

Good news - heard from Berrie and he is on the case.

Hello James,

I’m not sure what people mean with ‘disappearing’. MPoD and MPaD are still available in the AppStore and continue to work under iOS 8.

That said, it’s been a long time since there has been an update and I haven’t paid attention to the forum on my website lately. I will go through the comments there and see if there are any burning issues.

Best regards,
Berrie

Thank you all for your support : It's because of you, and thanks to you, that MPDroid stayed on the store.

I'll update the app soon, in order to remove the popup blaming Google. I'll also update the blog post.

I guess I should thank them for reaching out to me even after the appeal got deined, but it was a hard week for me because their dev relations are bad : this could have easily been avoided. I believe the management is enforcing some policy, and even Googlers couldn't help me directly.

PS : It was the screenshots. I feel like I just played a game of cluedo.
