Any recommendations for a spectrum analyzer app for an iPad or iPhone?

Thanks!

I have Studio Six's RTA and SPL on the iPhone which I have used a couple of times.  I do have an Audio Control 1/3 Octave RTA so it is not something I'd really rely on much.  If I was to get something, I'd do something like - http://www.minidsp.com/products/acoustic-measurement/umik-1  and I understand they have or are working on an App

Thanks.  I've use the iPad and iPhone mics for audio recording with decent results, and I have several good condenser mics and phantom power.  Is the issue with mobile devices the calibration?

My Audio Control 1/3 Octave RTA of course has a calibrated microphone.  Using the microphone built into the iPad or iPhone is going to be limiting as could be the software which may not work as well with some things vs. others.  At some point I may try the minidsp microphone and App.  For budget stuff, if you have a Radio Shack SPL Meter, there is also - http://www.rivesaudio.com/software/softframes.html

I use AudioTools Studio Six with the calibrated Dayton iMM-6 mic on an iPad and it works great.

The AudioTools Studio Six is the one app to rule them all.  The FFT analyzer is awesome and way more powerful than the RTA.

Russ, et al,
Thanks!  That's the endorsement I was looking for.  I found the app.

With these apps the mic is important, I see the OP has external mics and preamp but for others please be wary of results with the internal mic. The IMM-6 is an improvement, miniDSP UMIK-1 better yet. (Tested with an iPad not an iPhone.) See: http://johnr.hifizine.com/2014/08/ipad-measurement-mics/

John,
Thanks for the tip.  From the app documentation it sounds like they have ways to overcome bandpass filters internal to the iPad/iPhone.  I've used both my iPhone and iPad for recording drums with very good results, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're linear.

My primary concern is bass management at this point.

Noob question.  So can I use this App and Dayton iMM6 to test my room, i.e. generate frequency response curves before and after the addition of room treatments?

So, how do I get the test signal from the App to my stereo?

I guess I also need to buy a microphone pre of some sort?

nevermind....I think I figured it out.

Just connect a microphone (Dayton iMM-6) into my iPhone Audio Tools RTA.  And simply connect the iMM-6 headphone out into my preamp.  Then use the app to send test signals, correct?

I use the mic built into my iPad.  I use the app two ways--one is to connect the iPad to my Oppo 105 via HDMI for Impulse Response measurement, the other is to play pink noise and just use the RTA or FFT function.

So you don't NEED to buy the external mic?  The iMM-6?

I get data without it.  While the internal mic is not calibrated, I think it's good enough for comparisons.

I've got the iMM-6 on order from Parts Express.

Will download Audio Tools for App store and give it a shot.
