Sony TTS-3000 Motor Mount Question
« on: 21 Nov 2014, 01:11 pm »
I just got a Sony TTS-3000 that I am going to re-do with new plinth and arm. My motor just hangs low with springs on each mounting stud. In the service manual I got at VE it looks like there are some grommets that go there as a spacer. Can anyone that owns one, or has experience tell me... or better yet post a photo of how the mounting assembly looks?

Here is what mine looks like:

Cool table, the first servo controlled belt drive, a TOTL professional table.  Do you have a PUA-237 arm on there?  Highly regarded arm.

It looks to me as if somebody took it apart, substituted a piece of felt for a washer then put it together wrong or just somehow that works.

I never messed with one of these, but from the service manual the only things on the outside of the motor housing flanges are two 3mm nuts and a washer.
When you put two nuts together like that, they lock.
Between the flange and the mounting plate there is a 3mm washer and piece A3-4 (rubber washer?).  Don't be confused by the drawing.  The other nuts are for the bolts that hold the mounting plate to the plinth.  There are six bolts that go through the mounting plate.  Three for the motor and three for the plate that go through a raised part of the plate and secured with nut N4_

The part you circled A3-7,  looks like it goes on the other side of the mounting plate between plate and plinth.  Those are on the bolts that that go through the raised part and are secured by N4_

Here's a photo of the underside.  Use your browser tools and zoom 300% to get a clear view underneath.

My intent is to upgrade the table with damping, build a cool plinth, and put on this arm that my good friend Brian at Expressimo Audio is making me:

I have come up with a solution using rubber grommets and washers- works just fine. Thanks for the input.
