Favorite Soundtrack LP's

Soundtracks are not my usual listening fare, but there are some excellent ones out there.  Today was one of those odd days when I just started pulling film music. 
I started with the TAS listed "Casino Royale", then went to "Chinatown" and "Kings Row"-- all excellent recordings.
What are your favorite ones?

How the West was Won was part of the series of "grand" westerns.  I may have to look for a copy of "The Magnificent Seven" (although Bernstein clearly is channeling Copland's El Salon Mexico)  Bernstein's "Great Escape" is also top quality music.

The Longest Day.  Mostly dialog but that "V" morse code drum beat is magnificent!

Not a fan of soundtracks on their own.

In the context of the movie they belong to, another story.

Hard to beat:






Also, being a fan of 20th century classical, Bartok, Ligeti and Penderecki. What's not to like:

To finish up a day of soundtracks:
Enio Morricone's "The Mission".  The oboe theme is perhaps the most gorgeous melody ever written for film.

Truly captures the charm and mischief of the film, set in a little Irish village.   :thumb:

Kubrick has exceptional taste in music. His films are some of my favorites of all time and alot of that has to do with the atmosphere created by the soundtracks.

Anyone have "The Victors" soundtrack on Colpix?  Any good?  I passed up a mint one for $15 today.
