Should I stay or should I go?
« on: 14 Nov 2014, 07:19 pm »
So I got tickets to a Taylor Swift concert next year mainly for my wife and daughter.  I did get a third ticket.  Should I stay or should I go?  I am sure my daughter can find a friend to go with her....

:dunno:  Guess it depends on your musical tastes for one (you know she's gone Pop now, leaving the Country behind), whether you enjoy big crowds (a deal breaker for me), and the kind of crowd that's likely to be there.  Best of luck whatever your choice.  8)

I would read my wife's willingness to attend as a gift from god and accord it the respect that such divine assertions merit. Let your daughter choose her friend and throw in a dinner detour for the three of them. Make it a night to remember always and forever OMG.

Then start planning the poker game.

Is your daughter going to offend any friends by choosing only one to go with her or does she have a clear BFF?

It does look like a girl's night out.  Doesn't it?  A 52 year old man might be taken as a dirty old man.  I don't think she has a BFF right now.  She is making new friends at the middle school.  So she could end up with one by the end of the school year.  The concert is in July when school is out.  So there won't be much of gossip on who went with whom stuff.

I will ask them if they want me.  I have been fine at Lesbian concerts but I am not sure about the teeny bopper girly concert.

Wait until June, and see what the Ouija Board says…………….

If you go, be sure to wear protection.  Ear protection.  For the high frequency screaming…………………. :banghead:

Try to catch a listen to the new record if you have not already. Know what you're getting into!  :thumb:

I was forced to endure it recently and I was glad when it ended. Her previous records are more substantial, if that is the right word? She is going for pop sound this time, and it is working, sold platinum in a week. (yes, I admit, I preordered a copy myself, for my ladies.)

Of course you'll have fun there with the kids and make some good memories anyway, so yes I would say go. But be prepared for some lengthy intellectual detox afterward!

Have a good time!!
Rich

PS there will LOTs of fathers/parents there as most of the fans are not driving yet.

That would be musical torture for me!

I would drop them off, and go see a real band play at a local club, then pick them up after.

Either that, or I'd stay at home and have an entire night listening to all the 20th and 21st century classical music that gets me weird looks from my girlfriend.

Either scenario would be a win/win.

I would let your daughter take her friend, as long as it's a girl
She would enjoy it more.

My youngest (15) would love to go.

"No".

Girls night out, like was said earlier.....
Seems like torture for a grown male to endure.

I assumed Rim was a grown man. I certainly can't speak for myself, as you know quite well.

Yeah, the best response.

Would go perhaps for non musical reasons, whether that's to experience the spectacle or more importantly to enjoy perhaps the family time together. If you all feel you get a reasonable amount of time together already, I'd bag it. It's just a few hours.

Otherwise bring some ear plugs!
