Last night my network couldn't connect with the BDP and no connection this morning.   The BDP is hard wired with ethernet so I'm assuming the connection isn't the problem (although all other devices are wireless, so can't be sure.  Last night there was latency and it seemed like that might be the problem, but the connection is very fast, as usual, this morning. 

All other devices and the intranet work.  The BDP starts and the front panel looks like it does when it works normally.

Any suggested troubleshooting tips to follow?  Thanks.

Does the BDP-1 have an IP Address?  (from front panel home screen press down arrow)

In either case, the first thing I would try would be to reset the router by powering down and back up.

If the BDP-1 is having trouble receiving a DHCP automatically assigned IP Address you may want to consider setting a static IP Address.

I use a similar "setup" were my DFP(Auraliti) is connected by ethernet to my Wireless Modem. I've had this a number of times where
"everything" else in my system is how it normally appears, but Safari will give me a message that it's unable to connect as the server
stop working.

It turns out that my Modem will occasionally select a network I may have been using on my IPad when I was out & not my Home network that I set up my MPD home page on.

Take a look at your settings to see if you are on the right network !

Thank you.  Interesting.  I'm using my usual home network and the BDP has a static IP (if that makes a difference).  Everything except the BDP seems to work.  I've tried troubleshooting the cable modem and the "test connectivity results" shows outgoing packets but none incoming.  How can that happen when I can download webpages, etc.??

Can you ping the BDP-1 static IP Address from a computer?

I'm not a Bryston user however when I run into these types of problems with other gear I've found the best initial procedure is to disconnect the power from the modem, router and device then wait about 30 seconds and reconnect them. That sometimes works when other things don't.

Yup, I did'nt want to be the first to suggest it,but sometimes an "old fashion" full system reboot fixes those "phantom"
system problems we go crazy trying to diagnose.

(cross your fingers, throw the cat out the window, light some incense"or something else" & give it a shot. Good luck. If that
does'nt work give your IP provider a call & hope you can talk w/ someone not "tech challenged")

Thanks, all.  unfortunately, nothing is working.  The BDP has a static IP address with wired ethernet connection.  Have tried:

-- unplugging and replugging the cable modem
-- pinging the BDP.  receive "no route to host" and "host is down"

Couldn't find the IP address on the BDP via the front panel, although it does give the option to "revert to DHCP."  Is that the best path forward?

Thanks.  Luckily, the Touch is working so I have internet radio, but this is frustrating

Are you able to see on the front panel where the IP address should be, but it's blank?

You could also try and access it through a browser at   http://bryston-bdp-1.local   to see if you can connect, but if the IP address is actually empty versus just having a either a self-assigned or different IP address than your network, you may not be able to.

If you can't, and if your router or modem/router is DHCP enabled and able to assign addresses , then sure, let it "revert to DHCP".  Then you can get connected and can change back to a static address if you wish.

Thank you, Steve.  I appreciate your help (and your musical preferences).  Finally got it fixed.  How is this for weird?  Connecting the BDP directly to the modem and it worked, so I knew it wasn't the BDP or the ethernet connector of the BDP.  Thought it might be the cable to the modem, so flipped that one with one that that worked with the blue ray player and it still worked.  Thought it might be another cable, so re-seated all ethernet connections, connected the BDP and…it worked.  Previously, I had reseated all the cables as the first place to start and that didn't work.
