I'm a vinyl newbie... or rather, I haven't had vinyl since I was a teenager and it was that or 8-track. I always thought all those pops and clicks (like the "before" clip in this video) were flaws or scratches in the record. I thought records were fragile! Seems I'm greatly mistaken. Makes me wonder what my records would sound like today if I cleaned them?

They would sound better!
I dunno about that glue technique, too time consuming for me plus I hate working with glue as most of it ends up on me.

I've tried that and as a general rule, I'd say only the most OCD addled individuals would think that's a viable way to clean records most of the time. However, there have been occasions when a really stubborn record resisted coming clean after using a Nitty Gritty machine, steam cleaning, and enzyme cleaners with the Nitty Gritty. After all those methods left unsatisfactory results on about twenty or so really stubborn lp's in my collection, I've resorted to the glue method with noticeable improvements in about 50% of the cases. However, I've found Elmer's gel school glue to be much easier (and safer) to use than wood glue. It pulls dirt out just as readily as aliphatic resin or PVA glues and is water soluble, so you can safely rinse of any remaining bits that might otherwise wreck you stylus. Oh, and don't forget to put a little paper tab at the edge of the wet glue layer before it starts to dry, makes pulling the dried glue sheet off much easier.

Saw a demo on this machine at TAVES and was very impressed. Personally, would rather spend up to $1K on a record cleaner with the remaining $3K going to the purchase of a cartridge.

Be well...
