Very nice work. A few questions ...

- What feet are you using?
- Why did you make the 2 front "wings" so large? Is the whole rig more stable that way? Was it because it looks cool?

Great job,
Bob

Bob, those are Magico QPods I am using for the feet.
I made the front "wing" large because I had this 23 x 18 x 3.5 inch plate of Aluminum and did not want to waste anything, and I didn't want to do the 3 "wings" thing as it's too common...then VPI comes out with something similar called the Prime...but i's MDF versus 3.5 inch solid aluminum!

Awesomeness, just awesomeness.

How does it sound compared to your VPI, can't remember if you had an Aries or a TNT?

Powder coated "pewter".  Anodized would have been too much!

Thanks Tom...

I haven't had a chance to spin anything on it...hopefully this weekend and will report!

Total weight is as follows:

Plinth 77 lbs
Leadshot 3 lbs
Arm and bearing mounts 12 lbs
Platter 30 lbs

It's less than my previous DIY table/plinth, but at least I can move it much easier, though it's still a chore to do so.

I have not spin anything on it...and with a change in cartridge, from Shelter 501, 901, Dynavector XX-1 and 20XL, Benz ACE SL, Zu Denon 103, ZYX Airy 3 SB and Audio Technica APTG 33 to the new Ortofon Cadenza Black, not yet mounted...it will be hard to say.

I've had / owned the Scout 1, TNT 3.5 and various upgrades, VPI Classic and Rega P3...so, lots of changes just in the vinyl playback alone!  I will definitely report to sound for sure.

Thanks

Thank you Guy, but I can only take some of the credit.  The designer is very good, machining of the plinth was excellent and the lathe work was too!  And the powder coat, sweet.  All I can take credit for is the ideal, design collaboration, and assembly!

Now spinning the Benz ACE mono, with Belafonte "Sings the Blues" and it's really dead, the table.  Blackest background I've experienced in my vinyl playback, EVER!

Can't wait to set up the Black.

You must be a CNC machinist to do that kind of work or did a local shop make it?
