60hz hummmm
« on: 30 Oct 2014, 09:18 pm »
I'm new when it comes to receivers. :duh:  Not new to 2 channel. Anyway, when I plug in that hdmi cable from tv to the rec. I get a big dose of 60hz hum. I'm using a separate amp to power the speakers. I been lucky I guess but only ran into 60hz hum about 100 yrs ago. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Unplug the CATV line and see if it goes away...
if so your Cable TV line is not properly grounded.

Your cable tv coax cable isn't grounded properly.

If tracking down the source of the ground loop fails, one of these guys will fix it:
