Can anyone recommend a used HT receiver at a budget price?

Getting back into HT slowly. Not interested in getting the speaker set now, but I am going to get a HT receiver close to what I used to have. I had a Marantz SR-7500 and a Yamaha RX-v659 at one time long ago. Now I'd like to get another one of these in (used) good shape, or even another model or brand. Any suggestions on what everyone here has? Don't  need HDMI and looking in the $100 to $300 range.

These are great deals with a year warranty with free regular shipping!

I've been on other forums where others have used them and even when there have been problems - they've gotten replacements with no troubles.

I agree with Accessories4less.  My parents and in-laws have used them.

Two purchases from these folks, never a problem.
I signed up for their "club special" assuming I'd get dunned with email crap in order to get a discount. I don't think I've ever received a darn thing...and that's good!

I've also had good luck with the Onkyo refurbs.  Think I gave $98 for a 5.1 unit about 5 years ago, still going strong.

Take a look at the local Pawn shops.  I have been to a couple here in the Twin Cities and have seen some nice 3000 series Denon and a few Harmon Kardon's for very good prices.

Otherwiise check out  http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/category/avreceiver/home-audio/receivers-amps/home-theater-receivers/1.html

And  Saturday Audio  www.saturdayaudio.com   Saturday audio sells some used and demo gear for good prices and all is tested to make sure it is working.

Good morning!  I far out of HT have you been?  If you're not looking for HDMI straight away, there is the possibility of separates even in the neighborhood of what you're looking to spend.  You could front load your expense on a reasonable 2-5 channel amp and get a cheaper non-HDMI processor (the Emotica DMC-1, for instance, ran about $2500-3000 when new, but only offers legacy support and HDMI by Rs-232 support, and can be had for $200 or less).  You could then get a reasonable amp and effectively hurdle the possible limitations of an AVR in terms of sound quality.

Just a thought.

***I use the DMC-1 as an example because I have one and am familiar with it, but there are several examples available of now cheap processors and they wouldn't lock you down to an AVR.

Good used amps you could start with would be Hafler, Adcom, Parasound (rarer to find on the cheaper side), or Emotiva's UPA-200, UPA-500, etc. are even cheaper new!

Here is one you may wish to consider - an AVR meeting your description, wants, needs and price range: https://app.audiogon.com/listings/multi-ch-b-k-components-avr-507-7-1-surround-receiver-2014-11-17-amplifiers-87506-santa-fe-nm

The retail was about three times as much as the marantz you mentioned, but it is available within your price range (I'd offer less than what is listed) presently as a legacy component... may be worth checking out...

Have fun,

TDA
