You see, it's all a matter of geometry. You make a pattern that is symmetrical in both the horizontal and vertical planes, cut it out, rotate it 180° and glue it back in. You only need to do this to one speaker.

Cool. Some kinda scroll saw? Doesn't look like a Dremel job...

Didn't you redo the crossovers way back when?

Just used my old jig saw. The caps are original and sound excellent. They are within tolerances, so no need to replace them.

Interesting, as the pair of Dynaco A25 and A25XL I have are mirror image pair from the factory.

Every time I see a pair of A25's I feel the same sort of nostalgia some associate with, say, a '76 Camaro

They are almost never seen as mirrored pairs. If you have a pair, it is a rarity. They are always seen with the tweeter in the upper right hand corner. This was the practice back in the old days. ARs, Advents, even JBLs were always this way. If you listen in near field like I do, this is a problem.

Hi  Wayner, that was a cool idea. Why did the speaker builders of the 70's put the tweeter on the right side? I. know one thing, the terms of audio like imaging were not used yet in the reviews until the early 80's. Adrian Monk would have been a plus to Hafler and Laurent in terms of speaker design.Wayner it's good to hear from you......Mark Korda

I remember hearing the term 'stereo image' when I caught the audio bug, well before '80, although probably more in the 'sublective' press (Stereophile, TAS etc) than the 'how many buttons' mags (Stereo Review, High Fidelity).

Wayner, those are XL's, right?

Wayner

That they are my friend.

Here is what a 38 year old cap (8 mfd) measures in the Dynaco speakers:

No need to change caps.
