Hello to anyone I'm an Italian AKSA55 owner
I would like to know your listening impressions about AKSA 55 Nirvana Plus.
I don't believe it is much better than standard AKSA 55
What you think about it? :D

Have you heard the Nirvana Plus?
What are you basing this opinion on?

I never heard Nirvana Plus and I'm so happy with my beautiful GK-1 and AKSA55 that I don't believe an amplifier can sound better, but with Hugh and his team all is possible.

Hi Pabiz

Look at my comments and others here.
Also my comments in the testimonials section on the AKSA website refer to the N+ amp. The US audition amp is a 100W N+, so the comments there apply as well. Others have also built the N+ amp and can comment for themselves - some already have  :D .

Brad, I don't think Pabiz is criticising, I think he is trying to express that it would be difficult to improve on the stock 55. I think he speaks better English than most of us speak Italian.

Cheers

Mike

Pabiz,

Let me put it this way ... and here I'm making an assumption based on probability so please forgive me if I have made the wrong assumption.

You are Italian, therefore you are Catholic.  Like many other religions, Catholicism requires you to "have faith" ... no-one has actually seen any of the miracles described in the Bible but we believe they happened - ie. we have faith.

So it is with the AKSA, AKSAN and AKSAN+.  Each of these steps improves the base product.  For instance, the amount of extra base which comes from an N+ is astonishing.

Very few people have actually directly compared a base AKSA with an AKSA N+ ... ie. swapping from one amp to the other in the same listening session.  However, everyone who has done an upgrade (either from AKSA to AKSA N or from AKSA N to AKSA N+) has been delighted with the "new" amp they got as a result.  They heard a difference from the upgrade and it made their amp sound even better!   :D

You have to have faith, Pabiz.  Hugh did not put these upgrade kits together as a cynical exercise to take more money from his customers.  He was inspired to do a lot of experimenting as a result of the tweaking that various AKSA owners have reported on the Forum.

Yes, an AKSA 55 is a very good-sounding amplifier.  However, if you upgrade it to a 55N+ it will deliver even more sonic beauty to your ears!

Remember, as they say in the classics "have Faith and the Force will be with you!".

Regards,

Andy

I took it that Pabiz wanted to be convinced the N+ would be a worthwhile upgrade.
I haven't heard the N+ either, but I wanted to find out the context behind his question.

Since he is intimately familiar with Hugh's work, I think he could take Hugh at his word that the N+ is indeed a significant step up.

Pabiz, you sound like an accomplished builder - let us know how your N+ project turns out.   Seems like you need a match for your GK1   8)
Welcome to AC!

Hi,

I have an aksa 100 nirvana plus amplifier.  I initially started with a stock amplifier, a few months later upgraded it to nirvana and recently upgraded it to nirvana plus status.

Stock to nirvana is about 15-20% improvement and nirvana to nirvana plus is at least 20% improvement.  It takes forever to burn in (about 200 hours) and doesn't sound that much better until it has.

The sound is very good now.

best wishes

Hi Paolo,

Thank you for your email;  absolutely no need to apologize for your English, which is at least 10exp5 times better than my Italian......

What are the Nirvana/Nirvana Plus benefits?  Difficult to put into words.

Qualitatively:  Stock 7/10, Nirvana 8/10, and Nirvana Plus 9.2/10.  Of course, this is as meaningful as IQ (or a woman's figure measurements), but it may give some idea of how the changes impress.

You could expect:

1.  Wider, deeper sound stage.
2.  Smoother, more refined top end.
3.  More engaging midrange.
4.  Slightly tighter bass.
5.  Better layering when the music is complex.
6.  Slightly less noise when no music is playing.

I hope this helps!

Ciao,

Hugh

hehe... you can always try using bablefish to get some help in the translation ;-)

it always works for me in translating work stuff from the original French into English (my French is... er... 'sub-conversational' but I can get the job done with the machine translations).

http://babelfish.altavista.com/

see what I mean?

veda che cosa significo?
funziona sempre per me in stuff di traduzione del lavoro dal francese originale in inglese (il mio francese è... er... 'sub-conversational' ma posso ottenere il lavoro fatto con le traduzioni automatiche).

not perfect, but close enough!
