Magnavox 8 inch full range driver.

I have the oppurtunity to purchase 4 Magnavox 16 Ohm drivers for $40 each. They are serial No. 8WR and I understand they are good for 55hz to 20khz. at 40 bucks each I'm going to jump at them for a horn project that I've had semi started for some time.
Has anyone had any experience with these things, I understand these are Aus. (Australian) made units.
Cheers Craig.

These are a blast from the past.
The first speakers I built were the Magnavox 8-30 (1.6 cu. ft) with some sort of tweeter (Philips I think) and a simple cap as a high pass filter to the tweeter. Electronics Australia magazine about 1970.

Good luck with them.

Hi

Quite a while ago I got some Magnavox full range drivers off Ebay.  They are still sitting in a cupboard waiting to be made into Voight Pipes.

Oh, and just to really make your day I got them for $20 for the pair! :D

Can I suggest you have a look at DIY Paradise.  Yeo, who seems like a throughly nice guy, has some Coral 6's for sale at a reasonable price.

Cheers
