Nothing like never-played vinyl
« on: 5 Sep 2004, 03:31 pm »
Just fired up a newly un-sealed copy of "Kill 'Em All", fresh off the record cleaner.

Sounded great, plus the experience beats the h*ll out of prying a CD out of its multi-sealed, sometimes glued case.

That was a fun trip back to 1983 for me.
Riffs, riffs, and more riffs.
Hope Metallica goes back there someday.

They are releasing a new VINYL box set of their first 4 albums, plus the Garage Days EP.   Limited edition of 5000.   180g vinyl, and since all their albums are pretty long, basically 2 songs per album side.   Going for about $100.   Due out November, I believe.

Brad New vinyl is often incredible for sure, but when you learbn how to properly wet clean and vac used vinyl the right way it'll blow you away how some barely listenable ancient LP can be made dead quiet in the backround with all the dynamics and emotional impact usually smokes the new "Re-mastered" CD's which are almost all now compressed.

Since I've learned to clean up vinyl properly I've assembled an astounding music collection from cheap used LP's that I'd never dreamed I'd own or could afford for peanuts and a fair share of it sounds better than expensive SACD's
