AVA T6 and T7 gain/volume questions
« on: 5 Sep 2004, 01:30 pm »
Can anyone tell me what the gain is for the T6?

Also, is the volume control for the T6 and T7 stepped or smooth?

Thnx,

T7 volume control is stepped.
Frank says OK to adjust volume between clicks...

The gain on all new AVA preamplifier is the same, essentially the industry standard which is 20 dB for the line section (voltage gain of 10) and 40 dB in the optional phono section at 1KHz (which of course then varies with the frequency to follow the RIAA equalization curve exactly.

The volume and balance controls are stepped (32 steps for the volume control, 21 steps for the balance control) set by individual laser trimmed resistive elements controlled by a noise free multi contact "brush" type sweeper.  The controls can be set between steps.  The click stops can also be removed if desired.

The remote control volume control (an option coming very soon now) is done with a precision Alps motor driven pot and does not have click stops.
