At the time of "Rock the Casbah" The Clash were on the verge of splitting up.  Its quite possible Mick Jones  was playing with the lyrics.  I read somewhere that he did not want to appear in the video (the one with the oil wells) and that is why he wore a mask.  Joe Strummer rips it off in an apparent unscripted moment.
