I have a dedicated home theater using VR33s in front, VSA LCR-4 as center and KEF r800ds on the side walls, shockwave sub
My front end is all McIntosh

I am considering upgrading my center to a Visiun and would like to know if anyone can share their experiences.

I hate that I am unable to do a direct AB comparison short of flying out to California (which actually wouldn't be such a bad idea!)

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!   Steve

shockwave is now in the back corner, MUCH better
KEF dipoles recently installed.
Marantz pre/pro upgraded to McIntosh

Beautiful theater Steve!

I use a Visiun. All I can say about it is that in conjuction with my SRs (Driven by a big 'ol BAT 5-channel) I get a solid wall of sound commensurate with the size of my screen. It is always composed despite whatever might be happening on screen, yes, but more important for me is that speech intelligibility is excellent even at low volumes. I love that I no longer have to ride the remote control between quiet and loud scenes.

Centers are one thing where bigger is almost always better. :)

Thanks for the compliment.
It was a labor of love and by far the most used room in the house (especially the kids).

The coolest part is the ceiling.  I painted glow-in-the-dark stars and added black lights to the tray.  I tried using a star chart for the November sky... that plan degraded and I just positioned constellations in relation to each other's normal location.   The ceiling surface was larger than I expected, leading to summer and winter constellations together.  Nobody is likely to pick up on that :)

This image just doesn't do it justice.  When the lights are down, feels like one's outside.

zoomed in view.
I used a stiff bristle brush to pain the milky way galaxy by flicking the bristles and splattering paint.  Works really well.

That is a nice-looking theater! Wow, very nice.

September / October is a great month to visit So Cal,  even Riverside, but be sure to take a trip south to San Diego if you go.

Not to take anything away from visiting VS ( I certainly would if I were visiting), but if you plan wisely, there's a ton of audio /AV stores you can visit, plus, of course, all the local attractions.
