Being the owner of an XR45, I’ve thought quite a bit about the idea of going all digital from Source to Speaker. The Panny is great and I really like it, but something tells me that its not the ultimate application of this technology. The TacT products are probably at the top of this game since, incorporating many useful features into their digital processor and amps.
There’s not really anything in between right now. I think that amps made form the equibit modules could be made on a diy level, but I don’t think the DSP and control section could be. I came across an review for the Stello DP200 and it says that it has a digital volume control, digital outputs and FWIW upsampling. Has anyone been able to test whether or not the Stello can control the volume of the digital outs? It also has analog ins, A/D converter and I think an optional phono board. Kind of sounds like a nice front end to some nice equibit amp modules if it does work.
Does anyone know of any other pieces besides the Stello that might do this?
