Would like to know if anyone here has seen and/or  auditioned this new changer from Sony. Crutchfield is offering it for $399.00 ( while Good Guys is said to have them for $360).

Someone at the Asylum said that is very similar inside to the cheaper 595 but with better construction and a headphone jack.

I will apreciate your comments.

Regards,

Jose.

I just ordered one from express audio video for $250:
http://shop.store.yahoo.com/expressaudiovideo/sonyscdc2000es.html

Doesn't arrive for a few weeks, but I couldn't resist at that price. I emailed them, and they swear up and down that they're an authorized Sony retailer. Someone on another forum claims their receipts are from "Sound City", which is an authorized dealer.

Thanks...

50 cents ????

Considering that it is located in New Jersey, I believe I'm nearer than California. Our USPS system is the same as in the States!!! Anyway, it is a great price.

Just checked with Oade Bros and they have this unit for  $295 plus $20 for shipping. They are working out some mods this week and will have their results by next week. Their mod consist on replacing a few caps with better ones from "Sony?" .....The waranty wil remain intact after mods.

Hi guys, here are some comments from Oade Bros...

"hi jose, sorry for the delay in getting back to you,
but we have been looking at doing some upgrades,
but have not completed them. they are using some
new chip sets we have been unable to obtain data on.
we will probably know something in a few days, and if
you decide you can always send it in later for the
upgrades."

"hi jose, we just hooked the 2000 up to a high end
system, as we had been listening on a mid fi shop
test system with near field monitors not set up in
the ideal fashion, and have come to the conclusion
that it blows away the old scdc555 and 222es. it has
a much more precise image, and a much deeper, wider,
and taller sound stage. it is also not so "aggressive",
or bright out of the box, but rather has a more open,
relaxed sound. i am happy to report these findings...jim"

I'm enthusiastic about this unit, will see.

Jose.

Jose,
Check out hometheaterforum dot com and do a search for the SCD-C2000ES. You'll see a couple of guys have posted their impressions of it vs. the new Sony 595 vs. Denon 2200 or 2900.
