How does one identify the famous Volex 17604 power cords? What are the markings on it?

I think the consensus is that they are no more.  They changed suppliers and no longer have the magic.

How does one identify the famous Volex 17604 power cords? What are the markings on it?

The Volex 17604 cords that I purchased from Carlton-Bates in 2007 were sold as
  -  Part Number:  17604/C3-25/10
  -  Description:    Power Cord , 3-Conductor Plastic Detachable, Volex Shielded, Plug: 173 Nema 5-15P, Connector: 386E, Length: 6'7" (2) Ft. (meters), Pkg Units Per Carton: -, Color Coding: International, AWG Stranding: 14 (41x30), Rating: 1875 Watts 15A-125V, Cord Type: SJT

"VOLEX" is molded on the end of the grounded plug center and parallel between the hot and neutral [brass] blades
"VOLEX" is molded on the wider flat of the IEC plug portion that recesses into the IEC socket

The cable has the following markings:
14-3 SJT (UL) E204241-C----CSA LL2126-C FT2----SHIELDED  PF :::::: :::::: :::.

Thanks srb. I have a line on a bunch of NOS cords that a friend has been accumulating. I will see if any are from Volex.

If the cord has brass blades on the plug, they're the Mexico manufactured cords that are quite good,
If the cord's plug has nickle plated blades they're the later PRC manufactured cords that are not nearly as good as the Mexican cords.
