I guess I'm easily entertained but Divergent wasn't bad at all. The plot moved along nicely and the actors are quite good looking.

Quentin Tarantino pays homage to older classic films that influenced him and makes it his own. Divergent doesn't quite go that far, it takes parts of new popular films and blends them into an entertaining mix. The main ingredient is The Hunger Games, add in some Harry Potter and a dash of Star Wars and you end up with a film critics pan but audiences love. My friend Julie thought it was great, a film with action, adventure and a love story, what's not to like.

My four word synopses: Bambi with a gun.

Looks like one I will try with my daughters.  They will like the female lead, and are a little too young for Hunger Games' violence in a few scenes.

Does this one go over the top with Kill Bill slasher type violence at all?

No blood at all, people fall down when injured, just like the classic westerns. Your girls will like the way Tris discovers herself.

Don't forget to pick up enough temporary tattoos for everyone.  :D

My teenage daughter saw it when it first came out, and was disappointed, I think she had high expectations.

I saw it on a plane this summer, and found it to be entertaining, helping to pass the time on the plane.  I had no expectations.

My 8 and 10 year old girls did love it.

Thanks for the recommendation.

I thought it was just OK.  But worth watching with them for sure!

I saw it last night. It was just, "OK." Great story concept that could have been executed better. Truly an average movie.
