SOLD SOLD SOLD
Rogue Audio Magnum Ninety-Nine tube preamplifier in excellent condition.
Line stage only (no phono), uses four 6SN7 tubes. Comes with stock tubes from Rogue (not sure of hours but they work perfectly, sound fine), and you also get a complete spare set of new Tung Sol tubes, briefly tested and otherwise unused. Some users like to roll NOS tubes in this preamp but I have thoroughly enjoyed the sound with the stock tubes.
The preamp has been used carefully in a non-smoking household. I’m the second owner (since Dec. 2013). The preamp comes with its outboard power supply. This model has a factory-installed HT bypass switch, which I have not tried. (Note: I have all of the screws for the case and will install them before shipping. I didn’t screw them back in before taking the photos.)
Stereophile’s reviewer nicely captured the Rogue’s character: “ballsy yet refined.” He concluded: “the Rogue Audio Magnum Ninety-Nine preamplifier delivered a wealth of realistic detail and splendid harmonic control without calling undue attention to its tube pedigree—though there was a magic to its midrange that was pure triode. It offered honest presentations of my records’ unalloyed musical truth. This Rogue is ballsy yet refined—a no-BS, emotionally engaging preamp you can build a true high-end system around, confident that it will prove an accommodating, revealing performer regardless of the amp or speakers you pair it with. I can't imagine any preamp at this price whose performance even vaguely approaches that of Rogue's Magnum Ninety-Nine.”
Included in the sale with the preamp and power supply:
• four stock tubes
• four new Tung Sol reissue tubes
• four RCA plug caps for the phono input and tape output jacks on back (you can see them in one the photos)
• heavy-duty PS Audio 3-foot AC power cable I purchased to use with the power supply
• remote control
• factory box and manual
