A Most Wanted Man

I took my movie group to this one because of all the hype, but ended up walking out after 1 1/2 hours (of the 2-hours) of not knowing (and finally, not caring) what was going on. It was mumbly--in a German accent no less, and there were annoying lapses of judgment by plot characters who should have known better. Philip Seymour Hoffman was good, I guess, but I just didn't appreciate his character. In fact, I didn't appreciate any of the characters. I usually really like Rachel McAdams, but I thought she was totally miscast here (or she had rotten writers and directors).  I know it was meant to be a serious spy picture as opposed to, say the James Bond series, but this one did not do it for me at all.

I absolutely loved it!  SPH's performance was, to me, spellbinding.  I really liked virtually everything about the movie. Guess the accents didn't distract me after the first 20 minutes or so.
