Bryston announced today that their new Integrated Amplifier, the B100 SST will be released.  Current projections are for a mid-October availability.  It is 100W/Channel @ 8 ohms (180W/channel @ 4 ohms).

Any other details on what changes were made over the B60 (besides power)?  I didn't see anything on the website.

When I spoke with James about it today (very briefly) he mentioned that the preamp section was new and different, but little detail, except I thought he said the volume control was improved.

I think he said "digitally controlled analog" volume control

Would be nice to know if this means there will be a new 2 channel pre-amp from Bryston.

Here's an excerpt from the blurb I received:

"The Bryston B100 SST provides 100 watts per channel at 8 ohms and 200 watts per channel at 4 ohms.  There are provisions for 7 high level inputs, a pass-through feature is also available in addition to, one tape loop and a pre-out/main-in feature.  A headphone jack is provided for those requiring monitoring and private listening provisions.  A fully functioning remote control is standard.

*  Three completely separate and independent custom toroidal power supplies are employed to prevent any possibility of channel to channel cross talk, interference or interaction between digital and analog sections.

*  Our unique ultra-linear input buffer with gain results in a substantial reduction in noise floor and distortion.

*  Pre-out/main-in connectors allow for complete separation of the preamplifier and power amplifier sections making multi-channel system integration quick and easy.

*  Pass-through feature to allow for simple integration into multi-channel surround systems.

*  Gold plated five-way speaker binding posts and gold plated RCA/SPDIF input and output connectors provide long-term trouble-free connections."

There's a lot more but I'll save it for now....

More, more! :D

What's the cost in CDN dollars? Do Bryston do anything like a trade-in if you own a B60? (never heard of this being done, just asking) Any photos you can post?

Jim, you did everything right but it looks like you linked your gallery, and not the pictures in the gallery.

James T, is the pre-amp stage in the B100 superior to the one in the B60?

And, if so, are we likely to see a re-vamp of the BP25 using the same pre-amp technology?

(thinks about what a B100DA would probably sound like, and drools)

Again, if so, could the improvement be incorporated into a future upgrade to the SP1.7? How expensively?

Hi Nico,

The preamp stage in the B100 SST is the same as the BP25.

The B100 looks like the perfect partner for my PMC FB1s  :D

Will just have to wait till it arrives in Australia  :(

James: am I going to see a huge difference between say a BP25/3BSST vs B100 into my FB1s? I was thinking the relatively easy load of the FB1s should mean the latter is sufficient.

Hi Yogus,

Yes I have tried the B100SST on both the FB1 and the OB1 and it is a match made in heaven. We are rating the B100 SST at 100 watts but it is actually doing about 120 watts per channel.

James, when you go to your gallery, click on the picture you want to post, then right mouse click and click on the word "properties", then copy the url.

Also at the bottom of the picture there is the "URL for embedding this picture" you can click on...

When you come back here, paste that url.  It should end with a .jpg
