Is Pink Floyd's "The Wall" a redo, rather then a "remaster"?

I recently bought the Division Bell and found that Floyd has other LPs remastered by Doug Stax, (DSoTM, WYWH) so I bought all 4 that were currently available. After side one of the Wall, I was wondering why it sounded so different from the original. Faster pace, a different "air" about the recording, and the most oddly of all was Water's voice, which seems different and recorded with different kind of reverb. I know Floyd is heavy into the MIDI thing and can probably reproduce most of any song they have via the computer. So did someone decide to redo the vocals on this LP?

I bought the bundle from PopMarket (The Wall, DSOTM, Wish You Were Here). I have not listened to The Wall, as yet, but this is what PopMkt published on their site:

"...Pink Floyd Vinyl Bundle
Exclusive collector’s vinyl bundle featuring Pink Floyd’s biggest-selling and most influential albums – on 180-gram heavyweight vinyl with MP3 album download cards, posters and more!

•    THREE remastered collector’s Pink Floyd albums on 180-gram vinyl for one great price!
•    All albums include unique code for 320KBPS MP3 album download
•    Original packaging featuring artwork by Pink Floyd in-house designer Storm Thorgerson
•    Albums include exclusive new posters, postcards, sturdy inner sleeves and more.
•    Finally back on domestic LP, you NEED to hear these versions:
o    Sourced from the original master tapes, teeming with stunning dynamics, an immense front-to-back soundstage, newly uncovered details, balanced transients, and tube-amplifier warmth. these dead-quiet pressings will have you truly hearing these all-time classics with fresh ears

I will give new copies  a listen and see. I have the original release of the Wall on LP.

My lovely wife helped me do an A-B comparison of the old and new versions of the LP (using 2 turntables). The new version is almost a 1/2 note higher in pitch then the older version. So, that means a C note has now become a D minor note. Something wong.......................

Wayner,

Which remasters did he do?  I don't have any of their vinyl, but do have the remastered CDs+ from the Immersion box set released about a year ago.

QC issues at The Mastering Lab? Sounds like Dougie Sax owes you a swift refund.

Unless you like it, that is.

Paul, he has done DSOTM, WYWH, DB and The Wall. I think tomorrow I will put the LP on my Technics and find the correct speed (to match the other, older LP).

Why on earth would Dougie do such a thing????

I played sides 1 and 2 of both new and old copies of The Wall last nite on two TTs side-by-side and A-B'd them. No difference in pitch. The new copy is definitely 'tube-ier' than my 80's LPs.  Will do the same comparison with new DSoTM versus a vintage MoFi copy I bought back in the day...
