One of them is Frank Zappa's autobiography The Real Frank Zappa Book. If you like the music part of this hobby, it's a must-read.

What are some other great musician books?

Have fun,

Jerry

"The Rest is Noise: Listening to the Twentieth Century" by Alex Ross

A great book on the classical music of the 20th century.

Received universally great reviews, and lives up to them all.

Loving the Zappa and Krautrock recommendations so far!

Bill Bruford - The Autobiography: Yes, King Crimson, Earthworks and More

Some years ago Bruford came to my country for some Jazz shows, the local Tama distributor receive a short email to supply Bill with a Tama drummer set of such model.

The distributor send a translator and a drummer tech to assemble and adjust the full set of drummers and already expecting alot of demands from such famous musician.

To surprise Bill came to the local in advance of many hours and politely dismissed the technician and insist in mount the drummer kit alone.
This gives an idea of good character that is Bill. :thumb:

I've read many books profiling musicians. One of my favorites is

Every Night's a Saturday Night: The Rock 'n' Roll Life of Legendary Sax Man Bobby Keys

It's an unbelievable story. Bobby is like the Forest Gump of rock n roll. Bobby tells his story as if you sat down next to him on a bar stool. His encounters with Buddy Holly, King Curtis, Elvis, Mick Jagger, John Lennon, etc. are as honest as they are amazing.

Jaco: The Extraordinary & Tragic Life Of Jaco Pastorius
Power, Passion, & Beauty: The Story Of The Legendary Mahavishnu Orchestra
Beneath The Underdog by Charles Mingus
Lush Life: A Biography Of Billy Strayhorn
Bill Graham Presents: My Life Inside Rock & Out
Miles: The Autobigraphy
Q: The Autobiography Of Quincy Jones

Those are just the 1st ones that come to mind that I've read!

Anybody got any recommendations for a good one that was recently written about Pink Floyd? (last 2 years or so) Or is the latest incarnation by Nick Mason considered the best?
