« on: 3 Jul 2014, 07:27 pm »

To curremt or previous FB1I owners....

I'm interested in purchasing a pair of PMC FB1I .

Will my McCormack DNA .5 Silver Edition AMP have enough grunt to puh these speakers....
This high current  amp is conservatilvely rated at 100 watts RMS at 8 ohms ....  200 watt at 4ohms....

Thanks ....

There's a mint pair of ob1is for sale on here for the ridiculously good price of $3500.  The dome mid makes them a better choice than the fb1i

Yannick...I am the owner, of the OB1i for sale; and prior to them, I owned FB1i.

I think 100/200 will do the job on the FB1i; though I must admit...I tried the FB1i, with a variety of amps (I think I logged the most time, with a Belles Ref 150a v2...which is 125/250). IMO, they really came alive...when I tried a pair of Wyred4Sound SX-500 monoblocks (250/550).

So...I think they will respond to more power; but 100/200 should get the job done. BTW...I'm a big fan, of McCormack gear; you know what would really push the PMC around. A DNA-225/250!

And yes...at the risk of sounding biased; having owned both...the FB1i is a very, very nice speaker. But when I had it, I had just come from Harbeth 7ES-3s. I posted in the PMC group, if I could only find a speaker...that combined the dynamics and balance of the FB1i, but the mid-magic of the Harbeths. They said seek-out OB1i, and a dedicated mid driver...makes all the difference in the world. Super speakers.

PM me, if you have any other questions...about either the FB1i or OB1i; and good luck!
