Music Collections

Slowly nearing the end of phase II of my CD storage "solution," which will add an additional storage capacity of approximately 1900 CDs with the option of increasing capacity to 2800 CDs. So this will give a total storage capacity of a little over 4000 CDs, which should be sufficient for many years to come. Just curious as to the size of music collections of other members here on Audio Circle be it CDs, records or music files.

Be well...

No vinyl, but approximately 3000 CD's with room for about 800-1000 more.

I'm between 1000 - 1100 CD's transferred onto the music server.

Then, the CDs are stored in large, clear plastic bins.

Wow - some very large collections and it just occurred to me, what about insurance considerations?

Hi, Everyone. I'm brand new to the forum, but I've been reading posts for several years. I always thought I had a large cd collection, but you guys beat me hands down! My wife and I have about 1200 CDs, all ripped to hard drives to play on my BDP-1 and we have around 400 or so lps ang growing! This is a great topic to let us all see how our collections compare.

Good point.  Years ago I had my entire stereo and a rather large (for me) LP collection stolen.  At that time the insurance company wanted to know the name and label of every album.  My guess is they didn't think I could come up with this information.  I knew about how many albums I had but that was it.  Fortunately a neighbor owned a record store and he gave me a dealers LP catalog to go through and I was able to create a list.

So, I would get busy with a digital camera and make sure you can enlarge the pics to read all the goodies on the sides of the cd's or LP's.  You can't be too prepared to do battle with insurance companies - they never want to pay.

As a side note you folks have probably lost more cd's than I own.

Never thought about documenting a music collection with a digital camera - awesome idea  :thumb:
